BRAINSCREEN
THE NUTRIBILAN RANGE
BRAINSCREEN
An investment in Health and Well-Being. A personalised nutritional assessment for optimal brain function.
BrainScreen is a blood and urine test that provides a nutritional and functional analysis of the main parameters involved in brain nerve transmission:
- Functional: measuring the urinary catabolites of the main brain neurotransmitters.
- Nutritional: measuring the cofactors (vitamins and minerals) involved in the synthesis of neurotransmitters and measuring membrane fatty acids, an indicator of cell membrane function, especially for neurons.
The results of the BrainScreen will help you optimise your brain function by explaining how to adjust your diet, personalise your micronutritional supplements and improve any treatment plan.
URINARY NEUROTRANSMITTER ANALYSIS
The catabolites of the three main neurotransmitters involved in mood, behaviour and cognitive function are a peripheral indicator of their activity. They help us better understand how our diet affects our neurotransmitter levels.
LONG CHAIN FATTY ACIDS
These are needed for a healthy central nervous system. They play a determining role in neuron membrane fluidity, ensuring they work properly and helping regulate physiological mechanisms in the brain (precursors of anti-inflammatory cytokines, microcirculation etc.). Several clinical studies have demonstrated a link between omega 3 fatty acids and the prevalence of mood disorders and cognitive decline.
VITAMINS AND MINERALS
These are involved at various stages of neurotransmitter synthesis. A deficiency can cause neurological or psychiatric disorders, reduce brain function and promote age-related cognitive decline and neurodegenerative conditions. Selenium and folate levels affect the severity of neurodegenerative conditions.
HOMOCYSTEINE
A known cardiovascular risk factor, this can indicate a deficiency in vitamins B6, B9 and B12, all of which are essential for our mental health. Elevated homocysteine levels are a major risk factor of cognitive decline.
BrainScreen is for patients wanting to optimise their brain function using a personalised and appropriate nutritional approach.
It is suitable for all ages: children and teenagers, adults and the elderly.
As a preventive strategy in the over 50s, an optimised and personalised nutrition plan can reduce certain risk factors of mood disorders and cognitive decline (e.g. Alzheimer's Disease, dementia).
It can be used to optimise treatment plans for learning and academic difficulties, mood and behaviour disorders and altered brain function.
It forms synergies with traditional treatments to ensure a more effective therapy or as an accompaniment to successful withdrawal (smoking, drugs).
Because physical and mental well-being require the brain and neurons to work at their very best.
Because behavioural, mood and cognitive disorders, whether in children, adults or the elderly, can to a large extent be prevented by appropriate, personalised nutrition.
Because our emotional health is our most precious asset when it comes to quality of life.
BrainScreen needs a fasting blood sample:
2 red tubes, 2 purple, 1 grey and an acidified 12-hour nocturnal urine collection (urine pot with a red cap containing acid).
BrainScreen is a preventive test and therefore the whole cost must be paid by the patient who benefits from it.
